Educational Professionals Make a Lifetime Difference

(Drumright, Okla.) -- The school year for Olive, Oilton, Drumright, Oak Grove and Central Tech started out with an education for the educator.  The daylong in-service that kicked off the 2009-2010 school year for teachers and staff was highlighted with a keynote speech from SpiritBank President and CEO, Albert “Kell” Kelly.

Kelly spoke to the audience of around 250 about the vital importance of the education profession and the current economic climate.

H.T. “Butch” Gee, Superintendent of Drumright Public Schools, invited Kelly to present to the faculty after hearing him speak at the Drumright Chamber of Commerce Banquet earlier this year.  According to Gee, “it is very educational for our staff to have speakers from the business-world come in and talk about issues that impact both our teachers and our students.”

During his half-hour speech, Kelly discussed what set off the economic crisis, the difference between Main Street banks and Wall Street banks and how the past has been a great indicator of how the United States will come through our current situation.

“Despite the bleak picture sometimes portrayed by the media, Kell reminded us all how exceedingly fortunate we are to be living in Oklahoma at this time,” stated Jim Martin, SpiritBank Executive Branch President.

In closing his speech, Kelly reminded the audience of their influence on the students they teach.  Kelly stated, “you, as educators, can instill in our next generation the belief that they can and must make a difference.”
